Only when a person tries to achieve the perfection, he reaches Excellence.
What s Excellence ? Its nothing but the level best of that person who puts the effort.
SO this mark of Excellence keeps on raising with every time, one keeps on trying for perfection. And yes, at one point his mark of excellence expels or exceeds than all others in the world. There he becomes an Icon or Expert or Specialist of that particular arena.
even after this, the mark of excellence keeps on rising to that individual till where it really reaches the perfection - i.e where one find no reason to call it Imperfect, there he becomes ONE with the TOTALITY further on in that particular activity or his art or whatever etc
So finally when this Excellence has matched with the fullest potential of the individual, then it becomes perfection
Lets see with an Example : A.R.Rahman
He s not perfect in his music. But still his effort for achieving that perfection has taken him to the level of Oscars - which is an excellence rarely found and outstanding among the human community. But still definitely he has enough years ahead to rise this excellence mark more n more and one day achieve the oneness with his MUSIC and soul
Eg : M.S.Subbulakshmi who achieved perfection in music again, she almost sang her life into music.....
eg: Kamalhasan who s on the journey exceptionally excellent in his performance,
Vairamuthu etc etc so many unknown ppl are also thr..
hope i gave a 'not bad' try to give clarity :) !!

wat is perfect?
Kani
that was an awesome question sreenath... I din think also abt this... Well wen i asked to myself... I felt Perfection is a feeling !! A feeling of beauty
Perfection is utmost beauty u can say !! a feeling of beauty which merges you wit the Ultimate !! Perfection s a feeling that links you to the Divine by a frequency chord through the space between and in the space within..
I m not able to explain thru words more than this... as its a feeling to be felt i feel..
i wish somebody shd add to this.

s perfection necessary?
@ Kani: I tried a lot to try and understand wat u wrote, but sorry to say i didnt understand much...
But my first question is perfection necessary?...
Wat should everybody try to be perfect in?
Is perfection worth all the effort u put in to achieve it?
And based on my inference - perfection being a individual and task specific... i may feel i am perfect and continue to live in myth.. and enjoy the ultimate beauty etc(sorry i actually didnt understand that in space btwn space )... for the rest of the world that may not b any way near perfect.... So now one question arises is "perfect" relative...??
No let me go back to my first question because other questions are even more confusing...
Is perfection necessary and appropriate?
If you really are a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon, then that part of your life may require perfection. For most of us, perfection is wildly inappropriate. During a day or week, various tasks require various levels of execution. Everything does NOT require perfection. Being on time for a meeting with your boss may require perfect punctuality. Being on time for a movie doesn't.
Perfection but at wat cost?
Trying to do everything perfectly takes too much time, so I don't get everything done.
In my quest for perfection I may forget other priorities in life.
I may become selfish.
And in the end i may even regret - worst of all
Next one thing that just came into my mind is... perfection is an outcome of competition...
U r either competing with ur self or with somebody else or a benchmark....
And since perfection can only be an outcome of competition I HATE PERFECTION, because i hate competition...
Because competition is a rule of evolution....
everything good and bad happening around u is a result of competition...
Because every life form competes... each and every life form...
Just imagine a life without competition....
Cool calm peaceful and happy life....
But that will always remain a dream...
as long as we compete and talk about perfection....
Its first time i am involving in these kind of discussions.. so pls bear with me:)..
Perfection:
Nobody is perfect in the world.. everybody knows that.. Regarding perfection, i agree with both kani and srinath..
Both self happiness and competition comes into picture when we think abt perfection.
for eg,
if i want to do my house stuffs by particular time and if i did it, i would think myself that i ve done a perfect job. This obviously give me self pride and pleasure and involves nobody else. Here in this case, watever i rank for my work is de final one and there s no issues wid competition or anything else.
and wid srinath's view, its absolutely right that competition always be there whenever perfection is considered.
for eg,
if i want to ve a job , i try to be perfect in all means, like test, neat presentation , interview or watever else needed to get de job. i would be striving hard to be perfect to get de job. in tat case competition s there, others also trying for de same job n if i get tat, others r automatically affected..
when competition comes, there s always somebody above us to judge our perfection and its calculated by comparison.. so it wud be a comparative result and obviously it cant be perfect its just comparatively better..
as kani said, MS Subbulakshmi amma is considered to be de best because none proved their excellence above her, and again she has been approved as the best singer by the people..
So yes, perfection or trying to be perfect gives self happiness and its also involved with competition..
and for srinath's question:
y perfection s necessary and y life cant be calm n peaceful without competition?
As far i know life s a survival game.. each and every human being is trying to survive better.. in that case, competition is very common.. its individual's wish to strive for the survival and to reach the certain level they wish for.. humans are bounded by wishes and they continuously strive to achieve in order to get happiness what they believe in..
and again itsur own wish to lead a calm and peaceful life without struggling hard.. but u can choose to be less competitive, u cant completely get rid of it, if u want to survive.. thats wat life meant to be..
i think its de same reason for krishna's question - Wen u gonna die for sure one day y do u live den??
Wen u know u can't take nothing tour graveyard y u still earn??
its a survival game.. everybody reaches certain position in between tough competitions but none reaches the top rank.. when the game ends, people die.. people don want to end up the life by themselves , but try to win the game..
- my small opinion i ve given.. discussion can continue..
